| Our first topic for
this Spring Term is Shape. We are using the story of 'Hansel and
Gretel' as a context for our work on 2d and 3d shapes. We will be
making gingerbread cottages out of real ginger biscuit and describing the
shapes that we use. 'We're Going On a Bear Hunt' will give us lots of
experience of positional language: 'Uh-oh mud! Thick oozy mud! We can't go over it, We can't go under it. Uh-oh! We've got to go through it! Squelch! Squerch! Squelch! Squerch!' For the last 2 weeks of term all the excitement of Chinese New Year will inspire the children to make all kinds of objects in all kinds of shapes, to make music and to speak a little Chinese! Gung Hey Fat Choy! Chinese New Year is 20th February. 2007 is The Year of the Pig. |
