In
all, we hope that this project will lead to happier, healthier, more
motivated pupils who will have the skills and information to make
important life and health choices. We believe that this will also enhance
children’s performance in academic and non-academic areas |

At Shilbottle First school we are committed to the Healthy Schools Award. This is a project in which a team of education and health promotion specialists provide support to schools so that they might become healthier places for pupils and staff to learn and work. The Award is not merely aimed at pupils’ health or school curriculum development but centres around the whole school environment and all aspects of school life. It is not a competition but a commitment to promoting the personal, social and health development of the whole school community. |
Parents
are asked to support our work in this area by ensuring that their child
has breakfast each morning and that they bring fruit for morning break and
any packed lunch. To
achieve the Award, the school provided evidence that it is committed
to creating a health-promoting school by fulfilling standards set in a
number of key criteria, including physical activity, nutrition, sex and
relationships education, drug education, safety, the environment and
emotional health and well being. |
